CATEGORY CREATORS | THE STORY OF VENAFI
Total Time: 60:00 Overview: For nearly four years I had the opportunity to serve as the historian and storyteller for a cybersecurity company out of Salt Lake City, UT called Venafi. In 2024 they were acquired by another company and to celebrate the occasion, I directed and edited one final retrospective film. It took nearly two months to storyboard, capture and edit the hour long film that included interviews with 40 different team members, along with +2,000 different videos and images to help bring the story to life. Upon its release in 2024, it is one of the biggest projects I had ever undertaken and one of my proudest cinematic achievements.

Total Time: 0:52 Overview: Surprisingly enough, this was actually the last thing I made for the film. In all honesty, I was lost for ideas so I pretty much just ripped off what I made for my last film; The Rhodes Family. Maybe no one will notice...
JOINING THE TEAM
Total Time: 7:09 Overview: The opening sequence was one of the first concepts I storyboarded and I am happy with how it turned out. I also found a way to work myself into the film, thanks in part to my boy Marty Milbert for the shout out at the 3:53 mark. 
OUR LEADER HAS ARRIVED
Total Time: 7:40 Overview: Jeff Hudson is one-of-a-kind and he is worthy of his own documentary, but he is way too humble for that and I am sure he didn't even want this part included in the film. But he was a crucial part of Venafi's success and I wanted to be sure that he was properly honored in this film. 
CATEGORY CREATORS
Total Time: 11:23 Overview: This sequence came out completely different than what I originally storyboarded. My original vision was to feature clients and analysts to talk about Venafi, but half way through I pivoted and decided to keep the focus on the team. Ended up being my best decision of the film. 
WARRIORS WITH HEARTS
Total Time: 14:56 Overview: This was the most challenging sequence of the film to create. I was actually missing a crucial sound byte needed to complete the segue and my final interview, Jennifer Reynolds, came to my rescue and in one take, beautifully weaved together exactly what I needed and saved the day! 
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
Total Time: 8:28 Overview: If there is one song that always seems to find its way into my films its She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult. For me, there is no better way to cue up a moment of excitement than by featuring this opening guitar riff. 
THE PATH AHEAD
Total Time: 7:20 Overview: This was actually one of the first things I edited for the film. I soon as I layered in the music, I knew this would be the crescendo of the film and the perfect way to segue between the past and future while also providing an emotional kick to the film. 
FAVORITE MEMORIES
Total Time: 4:29 Overview: Patrick Gregory works at Venafi, but is also and unbelievable musician. He wrote and produced a song called "We Will Rise" about the Venafi team post-COVID that never got released. I had always wanted to use this song in a film and it ended up being the perfect way to close out the film. BONUS CONTENT

Total Time: 0:25 Overview: I love making short films just for fun and I remember when Matt was telling me this story I instantly knew I wanted to make this quick mash-up. 
VENAFI BAND
Total Time: 2:16 Overview: This story ended up being my favorite in the entire film and I often send people this short film as a sample of my best work.
